Student Journeys: Quiet Shifts, Big Breakthroughs

When we started building the Get Paid to Travel the World With Purpose course, the goal was clear: to guide aspiring travel storytellers in carving their own path, one that’s rooted in purpose, reflection and conscious exploration.

But what happens within the course community often goes beyond structured lessons and frameworks. It’s in those unexpected realisations, in the quiet inner shifts, that many students experience their biggest breakthroughs.

We asked some of our course participants to share their biggest aha moment from the course. Here’s what they said:

“It helped me understand the kind of impact I was looking to make.”

Aman @stories.of.raku

One of the very first exercises was such a simple but powerful eye-opener. It helped me not just understand what I wanted to focus on in travel blogging, but also the kind of impact I was looking to make. It brought clarity that goes beyond content creation. Also, the WhatsApp group is such a powerful space — so many stories, insights and real connections being shared.

“I don’t have to feel rushed in my travels.”

Divya @recentlytravelled

This shift gave me the confidence to slow down. To make intentional choices for my health and how I experience a place. And to encourage others to approach travel more thoughtfully.

“My stories matter.”

Jyoti @thephoolishgirl

I’ve always had years of stories to tell, but felt they weren’t worthy enough. The course and Shivya’s way of teaching through her own anecdotes, made me realize I can own my voice. I now write more freely and have even started a blog, despite knowing nothing about blogging before this!

“It wasn’t just a moment, it was an Aha course.”

Ramya S Prasanna @travel.three.much

Shivya helped me recognize my unique voice and gave me the roadmap to shape soulful narratives that truly matter. Her reflections cleared mental blocks I didn’t know I had. This course reshaped how I approach storytelling, not just for my website, but for life.

“Press trips aren’t just glamorous.”

Yesha @untravelled_memoirs

I used to think press trips were all fun. But Shivya’s honest account of the hustle — the pressure, the deadlines, the energy it takes to stay creative was eye-opening. It showed me what goes on behind the scenes, and why it’s important to share the truth of this work.

“Storytelling with intention.”

Laxmi

The moment that shifted everything for me was realising that storytelling isn’t just about what we say, but why we say it. I learned how to be intentional and to use the tools that help bring that purpose alive.
